Film Review By Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune Movie Critic ![]() ![]() Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie look like they had a terrific time making "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" - but I certainly didn't have a good time watching it. Neither, I suspect, will many of you. Despite its cast and director (Doug Liman of "Swingers," "Go" and "The Bourne Identity"), this romantic-comedy action movie is a fizzle. It's not for want of glamour. Pitt and Jolie, said to be embroiled for months in a Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton-style affair that allegedly started on the "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" set, give this movie all the pizzazz and star power it can handle, and far more than its empty-headed story deserves. They're a great-looking couple and look great here, cast as top-grade professional assassins, married to each other yet unaware of their professions, who learn they have to kill each other. As this improbable pair, Pitt and Jolie are at their physical peaks, buff, trim and glowing with superstar sexuality.
