08/05/19 — And yes, I was freaking out.
Like many of you, blink-182 was somewhat of a soundtrack to my late middle school/high school emo years and beyond. So getting this interview was a BIG deal for me!!!
I was walked backstage at the Amphitheater and into Mark’s dressing room. Which was clearly stocked with all his favorite tour snacks and beverages. The room had been made to feel like a home away from home. Throw pillows, blankets, and intimate lighting made you think you were FAR from backstage at the Amp. To complete that feeling, I was happy to see that his wife Skye and now teenage son Jack were there, and I took my spot right next to them on the couch.
Mark wore all black and donned the classic fo-hawk and Ray Bans you always see in pictures. He's also MUCH taller than I pictured. We immediately got into reflection on Enema of the State. This tour marks 20 years since it's release and they open the show by playing the album front-to-back. From there we moved into the writing and development of NINE , the bands upcoming eighth album due out September 20th via Columbia records.
Of course, after the music talk I had to hit him with some rapid fire, and no he does not agree a hot dog is a sandwich! Listen now!

What I wish I could ask him now? HOW THE HELL DID HE MEET UP WITH SHAWN MENDES AND CAMILA CABELLO IN TAMPA?!
