In 2017, The 97X Next Big Thing became a two-day music festival featuring over 17 bands. Day One Headliners were The Lumineers and their performance was one of the last appearances with member Neyla Pekarek. Day one also featured Next Big Thing alumni, X Ambassadors who were performing at NBT for the second time in three years. The rest of Saturday’s lineup featured The Aces, Arkells and Magic Giant. Day Two’s second stage featured Vinyl Theatre, Barns Courtney, Mondo Cozmo and was headlined by Misterwives. The Main Stage was kicked off by Joywave and Saint Motel. Andrew McMahon made his fifth NBT appearance and Jack Antenoff made his third NBT performance, this time with his own band, Bleachers. (W/Fun in 2011 and 2012) Portugal The Man, who had the biggest song of the year with “Feel It Still” hit the stage just as the sun was setting. Vance Joy celebrated his 30th birthday with the entire crowd singing “Happy Birthday” to him on stage. Walk the Moon made their second NBT appearance and primed the crowd for that night’s headliner, Paramore who returned to the NBT stage after 10 years. |
