The 97X Next Big Thing 19 took place at the Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheater on Friday, November 22nd and Sunday, November 24, 2019. This was the first time that the event was held in November and not on the first weekend in December. The lineup on Night one was kicked off with a set from iDKHOW who were making their first NBT appearance, but this was actually lead singer, Dallon Weekes second time on the NBT stage. He performed with Panic! at the Disco at NBT 9. Up next was PVRIS making their second NBT appearance, this time on the main stage. NBT veterans, Switchfoot hit the stage at 7:30. This was the band’s third appearance (NBT 3 & 10). Their set was a collection of greatest hits including “Dare You To Move”, “Meant To Live”, “Mess of Me”, “The Sound” and “Dark Horses.” Night One Headliner, The Killers took the stage at 8:45 and wowed the crowd with a 90 minute set featuring some of the biggest songs from the past twenty years including “Somebody Told Me”, “Mr. Brightside”, “When You Were Young”, “The Man” and “Smile Like You Mean It.” The show was capped off with an explosion of confetti that was still ringing in the ears of fans when Day Two kicked off Sunday morning. Smith & Thell was the first band on the second stage followed by The Band Camino, both making their first NBT appearance. Between bands on the Second Stage, Silversun Pickups surprised fans with an acoustic three song set wherin they shared their love for Baby Yoda. Twin XL’s set started at 1pm on the second stage and Morgxn was the first band on the Main Stage. White Reaper headlined the Second Stage and Shaed’s set on the Main Stage kicked off at 2:40pm Their set included the hit “Trampoline.” Both Morgxn and White Reaper performed acoustic sets on the pop-up stage between afternoon bands. The Revivalists made their NBT debut with a jam-heavy set including their hits “Change” and “Wish I Knew You.” Silversun Pickups, making their third NBT appearance (NBT 7, 12) delivered an amazing set with songs from their 20 year career including “The Royal We”, “Well Thought Out Twinkles”, “Lazy Eye” and “Panic Switch.” Judah & The Lion made their NBT Main Stage debut, having played in 2016 on the second stage. Their over the top set included theatrics, confetti and wardrobe changes. The band left the audience exhausted after 60 minutes of music including their hits “Take It All Back”, “Going To Mars”, “Suit & Jacket” and “Over My Head.” They also performed a cover of Blink 182’s “All The Small Things” with 97X’s Sam joining the band on stage. The original day’s lineup included AJR, but they cancelled two days prior to the show when lead singer, Adam had throat issues. The 1975 took the stage as the NBT headliners for the second time in four years and delivered a memorable set which included hits from their three studio albums. |
