Luscious Jackson member Vivian Trimble dead at 59

Vivian Trimble, keyboardist and vocalist for the '90s alternative rock/hip-hop group Luscious Jackson, has died. She was 59.

A statement credited to band members Jill Cunniff, Gabby Glaser and Kate Schellenbach reads, "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved friend and band member Viv on Tuesday."

"She had been in treatment for cancer for several years and developed a complication on Monday," the post continues. "We were not expecting this. She was a great friend and a gifted musician and choreographer, but it was being a partner to David and a mother to Nate and Rebecca that gave her the greatest joy. We are devastated beyond words to lose our graceful sister."

Trimble was an original member of Luscious Jackson, which released such '90s hits as "Naked Eye," "Citysong" and "Ladyfigers." After breaking up in 2000, the group got back together in 2012, though Trimble did not take part in the reunion.
